Some questions for The Disciples of Davidson.

2Tim 2:24-25
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Doyle Davidson opens every broadcast by claiming that he is a “an apostle and a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ…” If that is true shouldn’t he be held accountable to the qualifications listed above?

Does Doyle strive? Is he gentle to all? Is he gentle to anyone? Does he teach, or does he rail? Is he patient? Does he instruct in meekness or does he command with a prideful and haughty spirit? When Davidson publically humiliates a church member in front of all, is that an example of instructing in meekness?

If Doyle is a servant of God why would he be exempt from these very clear commandments? If he does not exhibit even this most basic fruit of the Spirit, can he truly be considered a servant of the Lord?

Titus  1:7
For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

The word bishop (episkopos in the Greek) means an overseer, superintendent, or elder. This means that these instructions apply to all who are in leadership positions in the church, including apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.

Is Doyle Davidson blameless (beyond reproach) or are there serious questions that need to be answered about his past and present behavior? For example why did he hide his adulterous relationship with another mans wife for 17 years? Doyle claims repeatedly that God gave Lisa Staton to him to be his wife. If this was so, why did he keep it a secret from his legal wife Patti whom he never divorced? Why did he keep it a secret from the congregation he led during those years? Are these the actions of a man who is blameless?

Is Doyle selfwilled? Does he put the well being of others ahead of himself? Doesn’t most of his preaching reveal an extreme emphasis on his own will? Doesn’t he talk more about himself and what he wants than anything else?

Is Doyle angry? He actually admits to being angry regularly. One only has to watch a few minutes of just about any of his broadcasts to see a very angry and bitter man.

Is Doyle given to wine? In a recent internet broadcast Doyle claimed that whenever he appears intoxicated it is not because he has been drinking but because the devil makes him appear intoxicated. Have you ever asked him for a scriptural basis for that claim? I’d also remind you that after his arrest for public intoxication in September of 2004 he admitted from his pulpit and before his entire congregation that he had been drinking wine prior to the arrest. I’ve heard what Doyle says but doesn’t the evidence seem to indicate that he is not being completely honest about his drinking?

Is Doyle a striker? In a recent internet post Doyle said that if he had it to do all over again he would “knock hell” out of J.R. Staton.

Is Doyle given to filthy lucre?  Doyle makes a great pretense of all that he has “given up” for the gospel but he talks about it so much that one must question whether or not he has actually given it up in his heart. He frequently boasts of his prosperity. He posted pictures on the internet of his new home and all the expensive new furniture in it. In another recent broadcast within a 2 minute span he boasted of giving away his home valued at $270K, living in a $2,500 per month apartment, buying a new $48,000 Cadillac, and purchasing a new home which he paid off in a year. Isn’t all this talk about the value of his possessions clear signs of covetousness?

 Doyle often asks you if you can read 5th grade level. Well I am asking you the same thing. Can you read these clear qualifications for leadership? Have you asked yourself why Doyle Davidson should not be held to the standard that Paul and Titus outlined for church leaders? Is there any scriptural basis for a leader failing to display these attributes? Does the title of “apostle” allow a man to ignore these qualifications and act any way he pleases?

If you are a member of Water of Life I pray that you would ask the Lord to reveal to you the answer to these questions and give you the courage to act accordingly.
